“Occupational therapy: Why OTs are a valued ally in mental health MDTs”

The core vision of The Hope Space is to provide a sanctuary for those struggling, offering a safe space filled with hope and the expertise of healthcare providers specialised in disordered eating. In this webinar, we will cover:

  • What is OT?
  • Our role in mental health?
  • Why should we be included in mental health MDTs?
  • How can we support you alongside your patient?
  • How can we be more inclusive going forward?

Michelle Knowles is an Occupational Therapist by background. She graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa where she completed her Honours dissertation in “Activity profiles of Teenage girls living in Urban townships of Johannesburg”. She then did her community service at an significantly under-resourced rural setting on the east coast of South Africa. After this, she moved to London where she started working as an Occupational therapist in the NHS. She joined The Hope Space in August of 2023 where her passion for eating disorders and mental health has grown.
